Objective
The principal aim of this work is to introduce a new form of ultrasonic apparatus in order to allow a number of existing processes to be operated in a more energy efficient manner while producing less side-product and effluent. The apparatus will be able to run on a commercially viable scale and, after commissioning, will be introduced to two industrial partners in the consortium. These are manufacturers of polymer based products and a number of production processes will benefit from higher yields and less energy utilisation. Ultrasonically promoted treatment of effluent water prior to discharge will also feature in the programme. The results should make a significant beneficial impact in making these industries more "environmentally friendly"
