Objective

DESTIN project aims at contributing to research for the definition and development of an interoperable multimodal transport network in the Mediterranean, within the context of TEN extension. This contribution will take place through (i) a diagnostic of the transport system - essentially supported by the analysis of multimodal chains and transport interoperability - and (ii) the design and application of a complete set of sustainable and operational tools and methods, which will be the base of a decision support system to identify a strategic transport network in the Western Mediterranean and to evaluate the priorities for its development. The sub-regional approach will allow for an in-depth project, given the fact of the long tradition in international co-operation between transport institutions in the Western Mediterranean and the relatively abundant material that already exists for this region.
