Objective
The proposed measure is the organisation of an international course to be held in Barcelona (Spain). It will be organised by the Archaeological Museum of Catalonia (MAC), targeted to young researchers from Mediterranean region. The course would cover a wide range of disciplines and domains addressed to valorise archaeological remains, from the knowledge of the palaeoenvlronment reconstruction techniques based in these materials to methods of intervention for the conservation and valorisation of the material heritage. The course will include plenary sessions aiming to establish the state of the archaeological heritage in subjects of particular interest: archaeological excavation procedures addressed to recuperate organic and inorganic remains, potential infomation obtained from these materials, maintenance and conservation and restoration works. The course will be developed and concentrate in plenary lectures, field visits and practical demonstrations in different laboratories: Plenary lectures will be held at the facilities of the MAC at Barcelona. Broadly they will cover:
1 - Specific presentations introducing the methods for the archaeological excavation and their applications: collect samples, in situ conservation, transport.
2 - Practical case studies on applications of techniques and methods for conservation and restoration of different archaeological materials: preventive measures, treatment of artefacts, repairs and restoration works, emergency repair procedures...
