Objective
BUROTROP, an international Association based in France, has been supported by the DGXII under previous programmes. It's Board and Programme Committee members represent Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, and several European countries. BUROTROP identifies researchable constraints and opportunities to increasing production of its mandate crops, formulates research and development projects, identifies funding for their implementation, and monitors and evaluates the outputs of projects. BUROTROP disseminates information through its data bases, web site and publications. BUROTROP has a significant impact on raising producing countries through helping to identify and solve problems. It is fostering European co-operation in fields such as tissue culture, molecular biology, and lethal disease of coconut and oil palm. Further support will ensure continuation of the programme.
