Objective
An 8-day training course in Stockholm for 5 Chinese researchers, introducing aspects on fish biology and database management. A 1-week workshop with a nuclear group of 8 Chinese and 8 EU senior scientists in fisheries, fish aquaculture, systematic, biogeography, genetics, conservation, and information systems meeting to summarise what is known about Chinese freshwater fishes in their respective disciplines. The measure should result in a long-term Chinese-EU research platform, research proposals, improved knowledge of the research and fact basis, and reports summarising the workshop presentations. Ultimately the measure will lead to novel resources for Chinese fisheries and aquaculture, adequate conservation measures for economically important fish resources, improved understanding of Chinese freshwater fish systematic and ecology, and ways to link information between Chinese and international databases
