International conference on health research for development

Objective

The 1990 Karolinska Nobel Conference led to the publication of the landmark document "Health Research: Essential Link to Equity" by the Commission on Health Research for Development. The recommendations contained in that document led directly to the formation in 1993 of the Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED). Ten years after the Karolinska Nobel Conference, the four major players in this field (World Health Organization, World Bank, Council -on Health Research for Development and the Global Forum for Health Research.) have joined forces for the first time to draw up a common agenda for the International Conference on Health Research for Development. The Conference secretariat is based in COHRED.
