Objective
Smallholder vegetable farmers in many Asian countries are intensifying their market-oriented vegetable production with increased use of agrochemical inputs for pest and plant nutrition management. This results in increased damage to the natural resource base, while productivity and profitability gains are quickly eroded. This project will promote an environmentally sustainable and economically viable vegetable production sector in Sichuan, China and Northern Vietnam. Through a process of participatory technology development, the project will work on-farm with smallholder farmers to analyse their specific constraints and to develop and test new techniques to address pest, disease and soil fertility constraints that increase productivity, profitability and sustainability.
