Central asia and the european union: international conference on ticks and tick-borne diseases

Objective

The proposed conference will focus on ticks and tick-borne disease (TBD) situation in Central Asia, which causes an enormous economical loss of dairy cattle and small ruminant production. Altogether 25 participants will attend the meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Central Asia: 15 from Central Asia, 5 from Europe, 5 from neighbouring countries (China, Indian and Middle East). The meeting comprises plenary sections, oral presentations and working groups. Invited speakers with outstanding reputation in the field of epidemiology, economics, diagnostics, vaccination and integrated control of ticks and tick-borne diseases will provide the conference with the state of art in each field. Through oral presentations recent observations and results will be presented. Working groups will be formed to establish and identify future research directions, elaborate the creation of regional collaborations and evaluate cost-effective vaccine production and diagnostics.
