Objective
The 3-day workshop, targeted towards the Asian sector, with 50 invited participants, will address issues of special relevance for aquaculture in the developing countries: the need to the need to make progress towards the goal of sustainable aquaculture, not only to protect the environment and promote ethical issues, but also to ensure the production of quality products of high market value; the need for transfer of know-how in the optimisation of feed management strategies; brood stock management, not only for good egg and larval quality , but also to preserve genetic diversity; the need to highlight contrasts and similarities between different geographic areas; the need to develop marketing and distribution infrastructure. Discussions and knowledge sharing of such matters will lead to the formulation of practicable strategies as a potential basis for agreements concerning sustainable aquaculture in the context of environmental protection.
