Objective
The Conference "The Future of Perennial Crops" will focus on the factors that affect decisions to invest in perennial crops. The conference will bring together researchers from various discipline (economics,sociology,agronomy,ecology..)with people involved in the production, marketing and processing of thecommodities,those who formulate policies or provide inputs and the donors communities. We will take stock of all the changes that affected the producing sectors, the markets for the crops; we will review the perspectives offered by recent political initiatives and technical innovations and we will aim at formulating policies that would favour sustainable and profitable producers thus reducing poverty. The conference planned to be held in November 2001, in Côted'Ivoire is organised by Bnetd-Abidjan-Côte d'Ivoire, Cirad- Montpellier- France, ESI- VU-Amsterdam -The Netherlands.
