CIMPLE FAST TRACK MODELLING SUPPORT CENTER NETWORK

Objective

This project aimed to improve the exploitation of the CIM tools developed in ESPRIT, VALUE, and SPRINT projects by preparing training material for intermediary industrial centres and end-users to help SMEs, with CIM process implementation. The training/consultancy centres were industrial related research centres already working with this target group. The partners were drawn from a range of EU countries and included multi-media companies, intermediary bodies, training organisations, consultancy and IT firms. The main output was a structured approach for SMEs to analyse their processes, goals, IT requirements that is codified in a CD Rom. A range of training materials is also available. Initial feedback from intermediaries and SMEs has been good. However, the need for localisation and for constant up dating of the material may inhibit its usefulness.

The involvement of several European partners with complementary roles and functions enabled the horizontal transfer among European regions and a vertical one among the different types of partners involved with end-users (SME). The success of the exploitation lies in the large number of SME existing in Europe that need urgently to modernise the management system if they want to survive and be competitive. The market tests already accomplished in the ESPRIT project show that there is a need for this type of product if the SMEs are able to implement.
