Objective
The hydrogeology of Kazakhstan has been extensively studied and a great deal of information has already been interpreted. Significant water resources have been identified and exploited, but a deterioration of water quality and resources has occurred due to pollution and overexploitation of surface and groundwater. It is therefore necessary to develop a new strategy for protection, remediation and development of the limited water resources in this arid zone.
This joint research will initiate this process by the exchange of scientific ideas and experience, which will result in the preparation of a strategy to achieve the overall objective.
