Exploitable results

HERMES is a new facility with unique capability to measure polarised and unpolarised lepton scattering at 27.5 GeV from polarised and unpolarised internal gas targets in the East Hall of the HERA storage ring. The internal target technique provides a very clean approach to measurement of both polarised and unpolarised observables. This new facility takes data for up to six months per year and has the potential to provide important, new information at the interface of nuclear and particle physics using deep inelastic scattering. Simultaneous with inclusive measurement of deep inelasic scattering in the kinematic range 0.02
