Objective
The goal of the project is to overcome a significant gap on the knowledge in the relation between well-known cyanide structures built from mononuclear complexes and new inorganic polymeric cluster materials based on cyanide and related pseudohalide cluster complexes as building blocks. The aims of this project are to synthesize and to characterize new polymeric cyanide cluster materials with different nuclearity (from 3 to 9) and with dimensionality ranging from 1D to 3D, and to study the influence of the dimensionality on the chemical and physical properties. It will be tried to establish, both from an experimental point of view and on theoretical basis, the relationship between structures and properties of these systems.
To achieve these goals it is necessary:
-to find the original and effective methods for synthesis of molecular cluster complexes with outer cyanide and some related pseudohalide ligands;
-to prepare a series of new polymeric cyanide cluster materials with chain-like (1D), layered (2D) and framework (3D) crystal structures;
-to investigate the different physical, chemical and physico-chemical properties (structural, spectroscopic, magnetic, electronic, thermal, electrochemical, inclusion/intercalation and ionic exchange reactions, and so on) of new compounds by a set of modern methods;
-to study the influence of crystallo-chemical, size and charge factors on structure types and compositions and to formulate general principles for design of polymeric solids with different dimensionality;
-to perform the theoretical studies to understand the properties of these systems;
-to suggest some applications for new materials.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
