Objetivo The present project aims at a multi-disciplinary fundamental research on effects of spin and inter sub band scattering in one- and multi sub band 2D systems by using magneto-transport measurements and theoretical investigations. It brings together theoreticians belonging to the density matrix and Green function theory and Monte-Carlo simulation communities, experimentalists having established experience in different magneto-transport and optical techniques. Objects of investigations are low-dimetional heterostructures based on III-V semiconductors, including quantum wells with different degree of structure asymmetry and various strengths of spin and intersubband scattering. The project aims at:i) fundamental understanding of the physical parameters governing the in-plane spin relaxation anisotropy, and spin scattering in the structures with ferromagnet-paramagnet interface;ii) investigating a weak localization phenomenon in multisubband and multi well structures, 2D constrictions, closed plates and macroscopically inhomogeneous 2D structures, and systems with spin-orbit interaction and magnetic scattering;iii) studying the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations in various multilevel 2D systems at normal and tilted magnetic field orientations with respect to 2D plane. The consortium consists of 5 knowledgeable teams, 2 from NIS and 3 from INTAS member states (including 4 young scientists from NIS teams), having established skill in both theoretical and experimental fields. In particular, the scientific equipment necessary to the experimental part of the project, and the samples, are available within the consortium or through established collaborations. It is expected that strong scientific interaction will develop between the partners, through visits, exchange of information, and collaboration on specific issues.Given the importance and actuality of the SPin and Intersubband Relaxation In Two-dimensional systems, it is anticipated that the project will give rise to the publication of a number of original journal and conference papers and will contribute to significant progress in semiconductor science.
