Measure and analysis of the political, economical and social behaviours and attitudes in three regions of Russia in transition

Objective

This research aims to produce and to gather precise information, using an historical approach, about changes in minds in the NIS which has happened very quickly and should be seized before it disappears; to analyse the logic and the coherence of the behaviours, by discovering classical and new patterns of attitudes or behaviours and by creating relevant theoretical tools to interpret these facts; and to elucidate and explain the processes of transition in order to make understandable and visible the evolution of NIS post-socialist societies and to provide public and private managers with help in decision-making.

The transition to democracy and market economy requires specific means in order to seize and to elucidate the processes of deconstruction in political life or its reconstruction, the adaptation to new socio-economical rules and the reshaping of frameworks of collective identification.

The methodology will make use of surveys derived from questionnaires. Three samples of 1200 individuals each will be randomly selected. The main items of the questionnaire will be related to the attitudes towards economic, social and political change. The long term objective will be to measure the evolution of attitudes across time by doing panel surveys.
