Objective
This project is aimed at solving problems connected with circumstellar protoplanetary disks around very young intermediate mass (1 to 10 solar masses) stars. For this purpose many observations are needed together with theoretical models to explain these observations. The project will handle the following problems: the outflow from the central star and the accretion of matter onto the star; the role of magnetic fields in disk and bipolar flow; the structure and orientation of the disk; the influence of the dust particles in the outskirts of the disk on the variability of the brightness of the central star; are the dust grains forming clumps or clouds? how is the extinction law in the direction of the central star? the general evolution of the disk; the evolution of the dust clouds and finally; are they forming planets?
All these problems have been recognised, but more clarity is needed supported by new observations, not only from the ground but especially from satellites. For this purpose the project will use existing satellite data and apply for more observations with spacecraft. Furthermore, theoretical modelling for the interpretation of the observational data will be made.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
