Objective
This project focuses on the chalcogenide complexes of the transition metals. The goals are the development of cluster chemistry and chemical design for less studied compounds based on investigation of the structure, chemical reactions and other properties of molecular complexes and solid-state materials.
To achieve these goals several chemical aspects of metal/chalcogenide cluster chemistry will be studied: the possibility of substitutions in metal/chalcogen cluster cores for the preparation of heterometallic compounds and compounds containing different chalcogen atoms; the synthesis of new amorphous ortand crystalline solid-state materials and extrusion of cluster fragments from these compounds (as a new method for the structure determination of non-crystalline solids and relevant to battery technology); the growth of single crystals and determination of the structure and some other fundamental properties; and the novel synthetic methods and development of chemical design for the preparation of metal/chalcogen cluster compounds with different nuclearity as relevant to heterogeneous catalysis and nanotechnology.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
