Investigation of the structure and physical properties of pure and doped systems based on carbon nanotubes

Objective

The long-term goals of this project are to investigate the systems based on carbon nanotubes and to extend these studies to the synthesis and characterization of novel fullerene-like systems.

The principal object of research concerns the extraordinary structure and the expected non-trivial physical properties of nanotubes (buckytubes). In the course of the research, the methods of synthesis, enrichment and separation of nanotubes as well as techniques for doping (both endohedrally and exohedrally) using plasma, chemical and high-pressure methods will be designed. The structure and fundamental physical properties of the synthesized materials will be studied by various current and state-of-the-art methods. The possible application of this new material arising out of the elucidated properties of nanotubes will be analyzed.
