Theory of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions

Objective

This joint research project deals with the theoretical investigation of relativistic heavy ion (HI) reactions in close connection with current experimental programmes, with particular emphasis on the ultra-relativistic HI program at CERN. Thus the research is centered around this major joint European research activity.

The project covers a wide range of scientific issues starting from the astrophysical relevance of HI research, like Big Bang and neutron and hybrid stars, through basic questions regarding the underlying physics, such as studies of the equation of state of strongly interacting matter and the dynamics of phase transitions, to predictions and analyses of the HI experiments.

The project is a networking project since the involved research teams share common long-term goals. An extensive collaboration between these research teams on a bilateral basis already exists.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
