Objective
The proposed project is devoted to the investigation of decays of heavy hadrons. Their weak decays, in particular the radiative ones of the B-mesons, are a unique source of information on the standard model and also on new physics at the TeV scale, such as superesymmetry or extensions of the Higgs scalar structure. But they also provide invaluable knowledge about the strong interactions, QCD.
We plan to investigate exclusive and inclusive decays of B-mesons, taking into acount the newest next-to-leading order effects and investigating further the difficult long-distance effects. Among other decays, we intend to calculate the rate for the decay B into 2 photons. A special effort will be made to calculate the important CP-violating asymmetries more precisely. Among the QCD related quantities needed, we will calculate the quark distribution functions for hyperons and the B_c mesons. We will also investigate the underlying structures of a possible flavour unification.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
