English-Russian Enriched Thesaurus in Mathematics (ERETIMA)

Objective

The central goal is the creation of a bilingual English-Russian weak enriched thesaurus for mathematics with emphasis on the three fields:
Dynamical systems
Lie algebras and Lie groups
Algebraic groups and invariant theory. This general goal of the project can be put into more detail as follows:
To make an adequate corpus of mathematical literature available in machine
readable form.
To use this corpus and existing linguistic software to create a controlled
list of key phrases in Russian for mathematics. More precisely what will result is a weak thesaurus:
To match this thesaurus with a corresponding English language one that is
being created by CIS and CWI, thus creating a bilingual Russian-English
Thesaurus of key phrases in mathematics
To enrich the weak thesaurus by linking the phrases occurring in it to the
MSC91 classification scheme for mathematics, deepening and modifying that
scheme where necessary or desirable. These are also the basic deliverables of the project, apart from scientific papers on the scientific problems that need to be solved to do the job. These problems are of a mixed linguistic-mathematical nature. For example optimal matching of discrete metric spaces (given additional information coming from linguistic input).

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

This project has not yet been classified with EuroSciVoc.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
