Objective
The possibility to create alternative refrigerating, heat pumping and air-conditioning systems on the basis of the open absorption cycle (pre-dehumidification of air by a liquid absorbent, evaporative air cooling, solar regeneration of the absorbent) is discussed in the paper. The main schematic developments aimed at the use of solar energy as a heating source (variants with direct and indirect regeneration) are presented. The indirect evaporative cooling (the usual and regenerative schemes) is used. The variant of an absorber with internal evaporative cooling has been considered. All the equipment (an evaporative cooling, an absorber, a desorber, a cooling tower) is unified on the basis of film counterflow heat-and-mass transfer apparatus with a packing bed made of longitudinally corrugated sheets (in the direction of the liquid flow), which provides the film-jet contacting. This fact promotes the increase of flow stability and the minimization of power consumption and liquid loss in the system. The experience previously gained in designing and running heat-and-mass transfer apparatus has been used.
