Objective
The main objective of the research is to show that on solid acids small alkanes (ethane, propane, butanes) can in principle be converted into the chemically useful products (e.g. dimeric/oligomeric olefins, carboxylic acids, saturated and unsaturated ketones, oxyketones, etc.) at comparatively low temperatures (100-400(C). Both oxidative alkane activation and its activation on acid sites as well as the mechanisms of these reaction will be studied. The reactivity of active surface hydrocarbon species towards probe molecules (CO, NH3, N2O, H2O) to form corresponding organic compounds will also be investigated. The influence of these probe molecules on the composition of the products (oxygenates, aromatic compounds and olefins) formed under mild and cracking condition will be elucidated as well.
By combining different techniques (in situ 13C CP/MAS NMR, 1H, 2H NMR, GC and TPD analysis, carrying out the reaction under static and in flow reactor conditions) and testing different zeolites (with respect to their acidity and structure as well as specifically modified), the analysis of different zeolitic catalytic systems with respect to their reactivity towards small alkanes in the presence and the absence of organic molecules such as CO, N2O, NH3 will be made.
The results of the research work will be presented in the form of scientific papers published in the international journals, related to the catalysis profile.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
