Electromagnetics of new artificial bi-anisotropic composite materials

Objective

The project is devoted to theoretical and experimental research in the area of electromagnetics of new composite bi-anisotropic materials.

The most important feature of bi-anisotropic media as compared to conventional microwave materials is the magnetoelectric coupling of the fields. Such media demonstrate many new and potentially useful properties. The project is divided into three interrelated parts:

Wire-based bi-anisotropic composite media (theoretical modelling and experimental studies of composite media with complex-shaped inclusions formed of conductive wires)
Electrically controlled bi-anisotropic composites (artificial materials with inclusions having magnetized ferrite cores, theoretical predictions of electromagnetic properties and measurements)
Nonreciprocal phenomena in bi-anisotropic media (general theory needed to predict possible nonreciprocal effects, synthesis and experimental investigations of nonreciprocal samples at microwave frequencies)
