Objective
Within the framework of industry and technology related information and advisory workshops (European R+D SME-fora), the project aims to co-ordinate more concertedly and to mutual advantage the demands and interests of European small and medium-sized enterprises and research institutions, as well as their capabilities. It proposes to involve SMEs more significantly in the 5th EU Research Framework Programme (RFP) and to open up the R+D competence and infrastructure of research institutions to the SMEs.
Furthermore the innovative strengths and therefore the competitiveness of these enterprises shall be increased. In tune with the 5th EU RFP, the content of the fora will concentrate on the following technological fields of application:
1. information and communication technologies;
2. environmental technologies and environmentally friendly energy systems.
Characteristically these fields have particularly high innovation and market potential and represent a comparatively high proportion of SMEs. The project schedule is structured in such a way that, within six months the basis of a SMEs decision for its involvement in the 5th EU Research Framework Programme will be established.
