The investigation and integration of WOMEN managed SMEs in FP5 and CRAFT research programmes

Objective

So far in Framework Programmes the number of visible women participants, particularly in the SME programmes, has been alarmingly low. This project will address both the visibility of existing women SMEs in the Framework Programme and encouragement of new women SMEs to exploit the opportunities of EC research programmes. The aims of this project are particularly relevant following the vote in the EC to support MEP Eryl McNally's communication on 'Women and Science - Mobilising Women to Enrich European Research'. The paper highlights the need to share experience among Member States on improving women's participation in science, and increasing the number of women engaged in Community research projects during the Fifth Framework Programme, which is exactly the goal of this project in relation to women in SMEs.
