ENVIRONMENTAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT FOR SME'S

Objective

To raise the awareness of the importance of EBM (Environmental Business Management) for selected SME's. The Irish Productivity Centre is implementing environmental management practises in Irish SME's through practical collaborative training programmes,building on existing experience from other organizations which work in environmental management e.g. the USA based Gobal Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI). The Programme addresses management strategies, plans and legislation issues. New intervention.

MAIN DOMAIN OF INNOVATION:

Innovative training needs analysis with a special focus on core/key qualifications.

TARGET GROUP(S):

Managers. Trainers/Instructors/Tutors. People working in SMEs. A number of SME's in Ireland have been chosen to participate in developing an innovative training intervention.

OPERATING CONTEXT:

Safeguarding jobs. Quality assurance development. Economic regeneration. To raise the awareness of SME's to the risks of liability resulting from environmental damage.

TECHNOLOGY:

Environmental related technologies.

INVOLVEMENT WITH ENTERPRISES:

Partnership with SMEs consortia.

INVOLVEMENT OF SOCIAL PARTNERS:

Tripartite structures. Joint social partnership steering/advisory groups. Funding by social partners.

RESULTS:

Innovative training materials. The state of the Art for EBM will be assessed. The areas for specific attention for SME's will be environmental awareness.
