Java Smart Integrated Networked Enterprises

Objective

The main goal of the project is to develop and set up an enabling environment for the dynamic networking between development agencies and enterprises, enterprises and other service providers, the B4U virtual community and external business partners.

The project has three specific objectives, reflecting the different perspectives of B4U alliance partners:
- to provide a qualified set of ICT-based services targeted to SMEs at development and consolidation stage;
- to design and implement an integrated technological platform based on openness, security and integration ability for the management of these services;
- to validate the results achieved in terms of improvement of the access to the global market place and competitiveness by a group of targeted SMEs

Work description:
The project will demonstrate that the use of an integrated system composed by a technological platform, a service centre and an innovative organisational model can contribute to achieve the main objectives indicated above.

Activity involves 5 logical phases:
- Analysis of user requirements and of service content and structure;
- Analysis of users' requirements in Italy and Spain using an agreed common methodology;
- Service content and actual interaction of SMEs at development and consolidation stage with service providers and development bodies will also be studied in order to translate and/or adapt the most suitable ones into online services supplied in the frame of a virtual community;
- Organisation and process modelling and production of technical and functional specifications;
- Based on the previous phase, organisation and process for service production and provision will be modelled and the functional and technical specifications necessary to the development of a working demonstrator will be generated according to some key features: open solution based on Java Cards, security, integration ability.

Building of the demonstrators (service centre and platform). Development of a working prototype of the service centre and of the ICT platform that will be tested with a restricted number of users. The service centre will feed the system with an amount of information sufficient to start the validation phase.

Validation of the demonstrator. The system will be made accessible to 45-50 sites in Italy and Spain (both clustered users and online service providers), in order to validate it from a technical point of view.

Deployment of the project results. The exploitation strategy and plan will start as soon as the solutions specifications will be available, with the aim of exploiting the project results both in the involved countries and in the EU Med.
