Objective
NORMIC- The Nordic Microsystems Manufacturing Cluster is a European-wide service with the aim of bringing down costs and lower the risk of entry to the users of microsystems technologies. This is done by establishing a formalised route from prototyping to low-volume or mass production by facilitating the customer interface. The idea is to make the microsystem technology accessible to European industry in particular SME's. Accordingly, the cluster will offer design from customer specifications and technical management in order to realise the customer ideas onto an advanced microsystem.
Objectives:
NORMIC- The Nordic Microsystems Manufacturing Cluster is a European-wide service with the aim of bringing down costs and lowering the risk of entry to the users of microsystems technologies by offering standardised design rules and MPW service. A formalised route from prototyping to low-volume or mass production is provided in order to facilitate the customer interface. The idea is to make microsystems technology accessible to European industry. Accordingly, the cluster will offer design from customer specifications and technical management in order to realise the customer ideas by means of advances microsystems. The NORMIC partners are looking to expand the microsystems coverage by encouraging more entities (companies, institutes, consultants) to use the services.
Work description:
SensoNor (NO) and partners SINTEF (NO), ACREO (S) and DELTA (DK) will offer a complete service from design to mass production of microsystems based on the following service tasks to be provided:
- Customer support, feasibility studies, design support.
- Design kit development.
- Prototyping by means of MPW.
- Processing and additional process services.
- Test, reliability and packaging services. In order to provide regional support to customers, NORMIC makes use of four MST Solution Providers, namely MIC (DK), CNM (E), ACREO (S) and SINTEF (NO), and a network of distributed design centres and customer interfaces. The cluster offers manufacturing services for industry based on silicon bulk micromachining in a high-volume production facility. The access is being achieved by incorporating the necessary flexibility in the production lines to handle external users' needs and providing design rules and design support in a vertically integrated offer from the NORMIC cluster. The manufacturing cluster will be established with SensoNor as the manufacturing site and three sites offering core services within MPW, engineering kits, test and packaging services. The customer interface will either be directly through one of the core service providers or through one of the MST solution providers.
