CO-operation for consensus, standardisation and interoperability to support e-com services in the FURNiture sector

Objective

The Furniture industry in Europe is comparatively the most important worldwide. To keep this trend within the emerging digital economy, it is essential to reach shortly a universal agreement for data exchange between the parties working for this industrial sector. The COFURN project aims to establish a Thematic Network linking key organisations (furniture manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, designers, industrial federations, software houses, R&D centres, Universities and standardisation bodies world-wide) to promote the co-operation for consensus, standardisation and interoperability for date exchange within and between enterprises and support for electronic commerce activities in the furniture industries sector. COFURN is an added value to the funStep Interest Group initiative. Project objectives will be achieved increasing the industrial awareness of the data exchange problem, and providing the means to get an international standard data model coordinated with industrial implementations.
