Objective
SCOOP will develop effective solutions and services to support world-wide manufacturing networks and co-operation of SMEs in rapidly changing environments. The system will lead to faster, more efficient and inexpensive execution of business transactions as well as high adaptability of business processes and planning methods to tackle challenges of highly dynamic markets. The end users represent print and textile industry. Work packages spanning 30 months reflect requirements engineering, system architecture design, software development, end user pilot set-up, testing, refinement and generalisation. Dissemination activities accompany; Exploitation is performed by industry networks. The result is a co-operative planning and control software prototype for advanced short feedback cycle planning processes based upon a methodology defining the background, simulation and modelling strategies.
OBJECTIVES
Customer-oriented planning and order processing in dynamic production networks require a common co-operative planning and production cycle. Negotiating capacity shifts, production volumes and delivery dates on a mutual basis are part of a flexible supply chain management. The SCOOP project focuses on the development of an effective information infrastructure with the goals of:
1. Development of new and adapted business models for the two pilot industry branches textile and printing;
2. Getting the developed and / or reengineered business cases running in textile and printing industry;3. Creation of a generic software tool set which supports the execution of the bespoken business cases with a major focus on production planning aspects.
The business cases and related SCOOP tool set enables mechanisms and services to Provide information on who offers, plan production processes across the enterprise network, monitor key performance indicators, have transparency of information.
The main result is a software prototype for the advanced co-operative planning process in networks.
This will be achieved through automating business transactions between enterprises using the innovative SCOOP vision. The potential for improvement is extremely high. The use of the SCOOP electronic business processes will reduce the time needed for order processing (request, offer, ordering) and delivery times by estimated 20% to 30%. Overall costs will be reduced by approximately 15% to 25%.
The SCOOP system has to be integrated with the wide spread enterprise management tools on ERP, PPC and MES level. It is important to have - be-sides the technical integration - an integration of logistic concepts and workflows.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The project is realised through the execution of eight workpackages:
1. System Analysis and Methodology Development. Analysis of the end user / developer requirements for all development and integration work; market survey for the definition of the competition framework;
2. System Conception Development of the complete SCOOP software concept including the overall system architecture, the user interface architecture and a generic architecture for interfacing the SCOOP software to legacy systems;
3. System Development - Early Prototype.
First implementation of the software modules based on the specification established in WP2 and integration into a first prototype, which serves as a basis for the end user pilots;
4. Early Prototype End User Pilots Implementation, test and evaluate the first prototype of the SCOOP software at the end user sites; development of training material;
5. System Improvement and Generalisation. Refinement, optimisation and extension of the SCOOP software based upon the end user feedback obtained from WP4;
6. Final Prototype End User Pilots. Implementation, test and evaluation of the final prototype of the SCOOP software at the end user sites in order to obtain feedback for the final reports;
7. Dissemination, Promotion and Exploitation. Definition of a marketing strategy for SCOOP to disseminate relevant results and to identify general conclusions from the pilot projects with the aim of successfully placing the SCOOP software as a commercial product on the market;
8. Project Management. Efficient management of the administrative, technical and exploitation tasks to assure the smooth and efficient running of the project.
