I European Telecommunication Summer School

Objective

One of the most important problems for the deployment of third generation mobile systems in Europe is the lack of engineers with expertise in this technology. The aim of the seminar is to present the standards and technology of the third generation of mobile communications systems. It will contain an overview of the research projects in Europe followed by a presentation of the ETSI standard; WCDMA/UMTS; and technology, methods and tools for cell planning. Courses will be provided by major manufacturers and telecom operators as well as academic sources. The seminar will be set at the level of a post-graduate course and will train about 100 engineers in the two-week course.
