Mobile E-work and E-commerce Secured Transaction

Objective

The object of MEEST is to develop a method and system that will enable people to perform a broad array of ubiquitous mobile e- commerce & e- work functions using their mobile handsets. By using MEEST technology every person anywhere and any time, will be able as a consumers to use his mobile phone as a safe and secure tool in order to pay for e- commerce & e- work services. The project will be based on the GSM/ GPRS technology on its first phase and will be adjust to 3rd generation according to its usage. The R&D activities of MEEST also include a WAP application, which will enable a broad array of e-work and e-Commerce implementations.

Work description:
The planning of the project is based on stellar work packages starting at day one, enabling each partner to lead the work packages based on his expertise, and enabling multi tasking and merging of most work packages into common stage in time when all testing and integration activities take place after the first stage a small scale marketing trial is taking place in order to test the system and to ensure that end-users' feedbacks, results and conclusions are incorporated into the system before large scale trial and commercial deployment. The challenges to gap within this project are: Provide a robust and reliable security level to commercial transactions over the Cellular medium (e.g. integrating 3DES standard into the SIM) Provide connectivity and interfacing to all varieties of cellular networks, operators, handsets and financial institutes Provide connectivity to all variety of merchants and retailers Provide Customer Relations Management solutions for M-Commerce Enable the system the evolution from existing GSM and cellular technology into WAP/GPRS and 3rd generation Enable the M-Commerce application to be loaded and upgraded to the end-user's handset OTA (Over The Air)Before the large scale application a legal survey is conducted in order to map the possible applications throughout the EC and map legal obstacles in each country, where applicable. The project as a whole consist of extensive parts of definitions, development and testing & integration.
