Objective
The project has 3 main goals:- To promote the proliferation of contactless technology,- To harmonise the contactless infrastructure and ensure the interoperability of systems,- To stimulate the use of contactless technology through education. Directly linked to the trailblazer 6 created inside eEurope smart card initiative, the partnership between operators and manufacturers will work inside the SINCE framework providing all the tools to achieve the 2 years objectives.
OBJECTIVES
This project's primary objective is to promote the widespread uptake of contactless smartcards. Currently, a number of factors are hindering the proliferation of this key emerging technology and the aim is to identify and find solutions to these problems. SINCE will provide the framework of eEurope Smart Card Charter Trailblazer 6.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The project is broken down into several key parts, including promotional/educational activities and a set of reports/white Papers into the current state of the art, analysis and identification of necessary improvement, and proposed solutions.
WP1 Foundations: In order to build on contactless smartcard technologies clear technological advantages, participants need to develop the mutual knowledge and understanding of their key problems facing contactless technology proliferation. Reports will be published.
WP2 Promotion/Education : The main task is to centralise, harmonise and publish the existing capital of the projet partners.
WP3 Management : provides the necessary tools for the SINCE partners to ensure the required quality and follow-up to make this project successful. It also ensures a very good liaison between the members of TB6. The strategic relevance of the project is its supporting role in the European (e-Europe, Smartcard Charter) effort towards achieving a leading position in secure e- and m- commerce applications as well as e-access linked to dense urban population. The pan-European partnership contains members from each element in the smart-card value chain from silicon manufacturers to operators. The expected benefits are the use of the project deliverables by operators in m- or e-commerce pilots and e-access, leading on to large scale applications.
