Objective
To conduct an awareness campaign to inform and involve the museum and other European cultural communities, particularly Archives and Libraries, and Monuments and Sites of the reasoning behind and the opportunities provided by sponsored TLDs for their specific uses.
Objectives:
Actions will include support for: the start-up phase of the new Internet top-level domain, .museum. A stratified awareness campaign will be conducted, targeted to the European museum community; the European public, and other European cultural communities, particularly Archives and Libraries, and Monuments and Sites. The latter action is intended to encourage other disciplinary sectors to consider the opportunities provided by further sponsored TLDs for their specific areas. The expected result is a clearly defined cultural sector on the Internet. This will provide means for the recognition and validation of resources provided by bona fide cultural institutions and support the development of cross-domain value-added services, enabling the public to access coordinated information repositories in an unprecedented manner. The aggregate experience will be exported in a further awareness initiative, creating global awareness of the scope and significance of European participation in the internationalisation of the Internet's development platform.
Work description:
MuseDoma is a not-for-profit trade association created to apply for a charter for the operation of a sponsored public-benefit top-level Internet domain for the use of the worldwide museum community. This initiative was successful and MuseDoma is now the contracted Sponsoring Organization for the domain, charged with establishing and controlling domain policy, administrating the verification of registrant eligibility, and the development and maintenance of naming conventions intended to maximize the information value and other benefit provided by the domain to the public. These tasks include the management of requisite technical facilities.
Workpackages are dedicated to: a European Awareness campaign. Although focused on the relevance of museum for its nominal target community, cross-sectoral relevance in a broader ALM context will be emphasized. The museum domain is the pilot initiative in what is envisioned as a series of further domains for other named facets of cultural endeavor.

Administrative Facility Operational;
Museum Community Awareness Campaign;
Public Awareness Campaign;
