Product Data technology Europe 2002

Objective

The conference 'PDT Europe 2002', will take place on 7-9 May 2002 in Turin, Italy. The Globalisation of business, the shift toward an economy of fast changing opportunities, the evolution of enterprises toward networked or virtual organisation, and the faster pace of ICT evolution and obsolescence, has put pressure on manufacturing industries to search for effective software interoperability solutions. The importance of quick, reliable information exchange between partners in the current Information Society is increasing and Product Data Technology provides the only practical solution to this demand. PDT Europe will bring together and encourage the interchange of PD Technology and PD Management implementation (in EU, Associated States and Third Countries) and provide EU project awareness to a global market. The operation will include support tools such as event website, newsletters, mini-exhibition, and a work package to analyse and publish results. The main conference will be enhanced by focused technical workshops or sessions addressing specific technical issues and the challenges of a service-based and dematerialised intangible economy, in line with the policies of DG INFSO. Presenters will be drawn from industry and academia, EU project leaders, scientific officers, and other leading experts. An international audience exceeding 150 delegates will be drawn from managers, decision makers, implementers, and project engineers from the global business sectors, academia and standard authorities. The event will include innovative focused workshops addressing topical issues (with subjects identified by leading industry experts), under the chairmanship of respected industry experts, and encouraging interactive delegate participation. A report on the workshops will be published soon after the event, identifying developing trends, new research areas, and market opportunities. The conference will be supported by demonstrations and an exhibition.
