Objective
The scientific and technical objectives of this research project concern the application of a unique electronic sensing and logic technology to manage commercial and industrial gas and oil boilers for their efficient heat exchange with the specific primary heating loop to which they are applied. Research is required to define the detailed thermodynamic response and behaviour of the primary loop whilst under this management. Devices, so far researched, utilise algorithms developed empirically through mutual and predicted behaviour of primary flow and return temperatures over most variations of satisfied secondary loop demand. This phenomena must be characterised and the extent to which it can be applied defined. It is necessary to apply the technology to simulations of building stock, boiler types, occupancy demand and weather variations to satisfy with scientific confidence the widest range of boiler retrofit and re-furbishment opportunities across Europe and the former Soviet States.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
