Solar energy assisted watervapour compression heat pump for single family housing heating

Objective

The scientific & technical objectives of this research proposal concern the development of aenvironmentaly friendly solar energy assisted heat pump system using water as refrigerant. Apart from the elimination of any direct environmental impact, the use of water as refrigerant leads to a substantial reduction of energy consumption and CO2-emmision (approx. 60%), compared to a traditional plant using artificial refrigerants. With 30.000 heat pumps in Denmark and approximately 500,000 operating under similar climatical conditions in Europe, this means an annual saving potential of 210 MECU on an European scale. Research is required to combine the technologies of water vapour compression and solar energy heating systems developing the optimum design of the complete plant concept. This includes among other things research and development on a low temperature operating solar collector, a combined energy storage tank / evaporator for extreme vacuum operation and a control system, securing a reliable plant operation.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
