Objective
This project will coordinate all the projects in the thermochemical conversion area of the Biomass Energy Programme to ensure that each contractor is aware of developments in related areas; to encourage active interaction - between collaborating organisations; and to permit rapid and effective integration of the different technologies into operational demonstration and commercial processes.
Regular workshops will be held to provide a forum for reporting progress and constructively discussing each activity, with meeting held on a rotational basis. The objectives of these meetings are to enhance the opportunities for integration and cross linking of related activities; to help find alternative solutions to problems encountered; and to either confirm that related activities can be linked together and solutions to problems found, or programmes redirected to achieve common goals.
Visits to contractors will supplement these meetings to identify and evaluate- progress, results and problems; and then use the significant findings of such visits to make suggestions and proposals to other groups when they are visited. These will also permit collation of relevant data for those activities which require information such as technical economic assessments.
The thermal conversion area is divided into five main sectors of pyrolysis, liquefaction, upgrading, characterisation and technical economic assessments, with interactions in respect of information and sample flows.
