Objective
The study, carried out by A. BIOTEC, is aimed to the detailed analysis of the capacities of the harvesting machine for sweet sorghum, CLAAS CC 1400, with a particular referring to yield in our environment and quality/quantity characteristics of the harvested and lost matter.
Preliminary researches pointed out that a sweet sorghum harvesting machine has to satisfy the following qualifications:
- to harvest the stalks dividing leaves and panicles;
- to cut the stalks such as limit at maximum the sugar losses;
- to be able to harvest the lodged plants too;
- to load the product in special containers.
Considering the above mentioned characteristics, the harvesting machine CLAAS CC 1400 seems to globally employ a good harvesting methodology. Anyway it is necessary to deepen some important aspects connected to the introduction of that machine. This has to be done in order to conveniently solve the problem of sweet sorghum harvesting. The machine will be purchased: then it will be observed during the harvesting of a surface of 10 ha of sweet sorghum, especially equipped for this trial. During the operation the harvesting time will be measured and the quality/quantity characteristics of the harvested and lost matter will be analyzed.
