Study of turbulent transport phenomena in combustion

Objective

Provide the fundamental information for a better understanding of turbulent transport processes for the efficient design of combustor yiedling pollution reduction and energy saving.

In order to achieve the objectives of this project the following tasks will be carried out :

Patras will perform accurate fluid measurements in diffusion flames stabilized in a rectangular combustior generating extra strain rates on combustion products. Measurement techniques will be Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA), hot wire anemometry and thermocouples.

Erlangen will perform accurate fluid measurements in axisymetric non-confined flames of two co-flowing streams with combusting and non combustion conditions.

Lisbon, using the data obtained at Patras and Erlangen will perform a refining of the k- model. Initially, the causes of possible failure of this model will be identified through extensive comparison with the measurement.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.
