A STUDY OF THE PARASITIC FUNGI OF THE GENUS ARMILLARIA IN THE FORESTS OF WESTERNS EUROPE:THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE DIFFERENT SPECIES,THEIR PATHOGENICITY AND METHODS FOR THEIR CONTROL.

Objective

TO DEVELOP NEW METHODS OF IDENTIFICATION OF ARMILLARIA SPECIES, TO EXAMINE THEIR DISTRIBUTION IN VARIOUS FOREST ECOSYSTEMS AND TO IMPROVE CONTROL METHODS.

I. IMPROVEMENT OF IDENTIFICATION METHODS:
A. THE DIFFERENCIATION BETWEEN THE VEGETATIVE CULTURE MATS OF DIFFERENT ARMILLARIA SPECIES (THIS STUDY WILL NECESSITATE MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS-MULTIPLE DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS)
B. THE FRUCTIFICATION OF THE DIFFERENT ARMILLARIA SPECIES.
C. THE REACTION OF DIFFERENT ARMILLARIA SPECIES TO PLYPHENOLS AND TERPENES.
D. THE SEPARATION OF PROTEINS AND THE REVELATION OF SPECIFIC PROTEINS (BY THE ELECTROPHORESIS OF ISOENZYMES AND IMMUNOLOGY).
E. METHODS INVOLVING MOLECULAR BIOLOGY (THE ELECTROPHORESIS OF DNA FRAGMENTS OBTAINED BY THE ACTION OF RESTRICTION ENZYMES AND THE HYBRIDATION OF DNA).

II. INVESTIGATION INTO THE DISTRIBUTION AND ROLE OF ARMILLARIA SPECIES IN THE PRINCIPAL FOREST ECOSYSTEMS.

III. IMPROVEMENT OF CONTROL METHODS AGAINST ARMILLARIA ECOLOGICAL, GENETICAL, CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL CONTROL.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
