STUDIES ON THE SUSCEPTIBILITY OF SPRUCE VERSUS IPS TYPOGRAPHUS.

Objective

TO CREATE A RISK EVALUATION AND CLARIFY CERTAIN CAUSAL RELATIONS BETWEEN SITE FACTORS AND TREE RESISTANCE.

A. RELATION SITE-SPRUCE CHEMISTRY:
IN TYPICAL ECOLOGICAL SECTORS WITH DIFFERENT SPRUCE PERFORMANCE, PLOTS WILL BE CHOSEN FROM WHICH SAMPLES WILL BE TAKEN EACH YEAR TO GIVE ENOUGH REPETITIONS AND ANALYSED FOR 15 MACRO AND MICRO MINERALS AND SOME ORGANIC SUBSTANCES LIKE TANNINS.

B. TO ESTIMATE BARK BEETLE POPULATION DENSITIES BY MEANS OF DIFFERENT METHODS:
TO DEFINE "STANDS OF RISK" THROUGH A COMBINATION OF DATA ON BEETLE POPULATION DENSITIES AND TREND WITH DETAILED DATA BASE INFORMATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS INFLUENCING THE VITALITY OF SPRUCE TREES IN ORDER TO END UP WITH A MAPPING OF RISK STANDS.
