Objective
TO GAIN AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROCESS OF PHOTOYELLOWING OF LIGNIN CONTAINER MATERIALS AND TO USE THIS KNOWLEDGE IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE TO OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM.
IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A VIABLE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF THE PHOTOYELLOWING OF LIGNIN CONTAINING MATERIALS, IT IS PROPOSED TO STUDY THE EFFECTIVENESS WITH COMPOUNDS WHICH ARE :
(A) REDUCING AGENTS
(B) EFFECTIVE RADICAL SCAVENGERS
(C) GOOD TRIPLET QUENCHES
(D) ARE EFFICIENT UV SCREENS WHICH CAN BE USED AS ADDITIVES TO REDUCE THE EXTEND OR ENTIRELY ELIMINATE THIS PROCESS.
WITH THIS INFORMATION AT HAND, IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO ASSESS WHETHER COMPOUNDS POSSESSING A GREATER AFFINITY FOR PAPER AND YET WHICH CONTAIN THE GROUP PREVENTING PHOTOYELLOWING SHOULD BE SUMMARIZED AND TESTED. THIS WORK WILL BE PARALLELED BY THE STUDY OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROPOSED YELLOWING RETARDERS ON HIGH YIELD PULP MATERIALS. IN THIS WAY IT SHOULD BE POSSIBLE TO ESTABLISH AT AN EARLY STAGE THE VALUE OF THE MATERIAL AND HAVE A PROPER APPRAISAL OF THE UTILITY OF THE MATERIALS IN THE REAL LIFE SITUATION. THIS WORK WILL REQUIRE THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
