PHOSPHO-ALPHA-HEMIHYDRATE IS A WASTE PRODUCT FROM THE FERTILIZER INDUSTRIES. TWO FACTORIES IN WESTERN EUROPE PRODUCE HEMIHYDRATE AS A BYPRODUCT, IE PRAYON-ENGIS, BELGIUM AND WINDMILL-VLAARDINGEN, HOLLAND.
THESE COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO REDUCE THE EMISSION OF SLIGHTLY CONTAMINATED CHEMICAL GYPSUM. PHOSPHO-ALPHA-HEMIHYDRATE IS USUALLY DISPOSED OF AS A SLURRY. A PARTLY DEWATERED SLURRY CAN BE USED AS A MORTAR. THIS MORTAR FORMS A BASE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF IN-PLACE MONOLITHS OR SMALLER ELEMENTS. MONOLITHS SHOULD FIND THEIR WAY IN CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECTS, ELEMENTS MIGHT BE MARKETED IN THE BUILDING INDUSTRY.
PBI IS MAINLY CONCERNED WITH MORTARS AND MONOLITHS, WHILE BBRI (WTCB) FOCUSSES ON BUILDING INDUSTRIES APPLICATIONS.
