Objective
TO IMPROVE METHODS OF UPGRADING AND RE-USING PET FROM POST CONSUMED AND INDUSTRIAL WASTE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF RECYCLED BOTTLES AND TO DEFINE FINISHED SPECIFICATIONS OF MATERIAL TO MEET THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY CONSUMPTION.
OBJECTIVES:
TO CONSERVE ENERGY AND RAW MATERIALS.
TO REDUCE WASTE ARISINGS.
TO EFFECT THE ECONOMIC RECYCLING OF WASTE AS RAW MATERIALS.
TO PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT.
TO PRODUCE A MATERIAL WITH SIMILAR PROPERTIES AS VIRGIN PET.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
1.- TO GRANULATED PET POST CONSUMER WASTE FROM A BAILLED FORM. MATERIAL WILL INCLUDE BOTTLE TOPS, PAPER, GLUE, BASE CUPS, PRODUCT AND GENERAL CONTAMINATES.
2.- PRE WASH TO REMOVE HEAVY CONTAMINATES BY SINK FLOAT METHOD.
3.- SOLVENT SEPARATION AND SOLVENT RECOVERY TO BE DEVELOPED TO REMOVE HOT MELT GLUES AND ANY RAMAINING PRODUCT IE LEMONADE, BEER, ETC...
4.- SINK, FLOAT ANY REMAINING PAPER AND BASE CUP MATERIAL.
5.- HYDROCYCLONE TECHNOLOGY TO BE DEVELOPED TO REMOVE SMALL FRACTIONS OF CONTAMINATIONS AND SEPARATE OUT THE FINAL HIGH GRADE PET FROM ANY METAL OR ALLOY CONTAMINATION.
6.- PROPOSED SYSTEM TO COMMERCIALLY PRODUCE RECLAINED PET AT ONE TONNE PER HOUR MINIMUM, WHICH IS SUITABLE FOR THE DRINKS INDUSTRY.
