BONDED ND-FE-B PERMANENT MAGNET FOR SMALL INDUSTRIAL DC MOTORS

Objective

THE AIM IS TO DEVELOP, IN THE FIRST INSTANCE, AN ISOTROPIC BONDED PERMANENT MAGNETS MATERIAL FOR APPLICATION IN SMALL INDUSTRIAL MOTORS, AT A LATER STAGE THE PROCESS WILL BE UPGRADED TO INCLUDE ANISOTROPIC NDFEB BONDED MAGNETS. IN PARTICULAR, DIFFERENT BONDING TECHNOLOGIES, MAGNETS AND BOND MATERIALS WILL BE INVESTIGATED. IMPROVEMENTS AS TO ATMOSPHERIC CORROSION RESISTANCE WILL BE CARRIED OUT AS WILL MECHANICAL AND IN-SERVICE STORAGE TESTS.

A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE RESEARCH WILL BE THE CONTINUOUS MECHANICAL, MAGNETIC AND MICROSTRUCTURAL STUDIES THAT WILL BE CARRIED OUT THROUGH THE LIFE OF THE PROJECT. THE OPTIMISED BONDED WILL BE CAREFULLY SPECIFIED FOR USE IN SMALL MOTOR APPLICATIONS.

THE EXPECTED SCIENTIFIC AND ECONOMIC BENEFITS INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT AND FABRICATION OF SMALL MOTORS INCORPORATING PLASTIC AND RUBBER BONDED NDFEB PERMANENT MAGNETS MANUFACTURED IN EUROPE (WITH EUROPEAN MATERIALS).

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.
