EVALUATION AND ADJUSTMENT OF NEW HIGH FIELD MAGNETISM TECHNIQUES TO RECOVER SPECIAL METALLIC SCRAPS.

Objective

TO CONSIDER AND ADAPT THE USE OF NEW TECHNIQUES OF HIGH FIELD MAGNETIC SEPARATIONS IN REGARD WITH THE RECOVERY OF NON-FERROUS METALS INDUSTRIAL SCRAPS.
A new high intensity permanent magnet separator has been developed for use in recovering scrap metals from a variety of industrial and nonindustrial situations.
THE PROGRAMME CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING STAGES:

A) - REVIEW OF THE PRODUCT PROCESSING TECHNIQUES

B) - CHARACTERIZATION OF LOTS AND DEFINITION OF PRIOR CONDITIONING.
AFTER SYSTEMATIC ON-SITE INDUSTRIAL SAMPLING, THE LOTS WILL BE CHARACTERIZED ACCORDING TO
- THEIR MAIN COMPONENTS
- THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE COMPONENTS WHICH DETERMINE THE PROCESSING TO BE CARRIED OUT (SHAPE, GRANULARITY, DENSITY, MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY, ETC...)

C) - PROCESSING TESTS.
- PRODUCTION OF OPERATIONAL SCHEMES FOR MAGNETIC SEPARATION
- RESEARCH TO ESTABLISH THE OPTIMUM OPERATING PARAMETERS
- QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE EVALUATION.

THE WASTE TO BE PRODUCED DURING THE MAGNETIC PROCESSING STAGE WILL BE EVALUATED WITH A VIEW TO :
- ITS DIRECT REINTEGRATION INTO AN ESTABLISHED INDUSTRIAL RECYCLING CIRCUIT,
- ITS PREPARATION FOR REINTEGRATION FOLLOWING FURTHER PROCESSING,
- NEW POSSIBILITIES FOR USE (HYDRO OR PYROMETALLURGICAL) CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE SELECTION MADE.

DESPITE THE HIGHLY COMPLEX TECHNIQUE INVOLVED, THE APPLICATION OF SEPARATION BY MEANS OF A HIGH STRENGTH MAGNETIC FIELD OFFERS SUBSTANTIAL ECONOMIC POTENTIAL FOR THE UTILIZATION OF SUPERALLOY WASTE.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
