Development of a self-organising underwater vehicle

Exploitable results

The underwater vehicle which has now been developed is designed to manoeuvre at depths of up to 600 m. The project team has developed the vehicle’s positioning system that runs on a real-time operating system. A communications system between the submarine and its support vessel has also been developed. This system is based on hydrophones and makes use of coded signals transmitted at a few Kbits/s. A special software module assures optimization of acoustic signal paths in order to avoid multipath interference. Up until now very few solutions have been found for optimizing underwater communications.
